Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland Boardmatch Ireland Ltd. Full time

EBEN, or the European Business Ethics Network, is a cross-national, non-profit network, active in 20 countries, dedicated to the promotion and support of integrity and responsibility in leadership and management, not only in business but also in academia, the public sector and across civil society.

EBEN Ireland was established in 2011, when it hosted the annual EBEN Research Conference entitled Does Integrity Matter?, featuring 80 speakers from over 30 countries and four continents.

The conference proceedings addressed topics of trust, integrity, reputation, ethics, governance, leadership, financial services, compliance, risk, fraud, crime, corruption, whistleblower protection and social responsibility – all key issues in line with EBENI's ambitions, including fostering a culture of integrity and trust in business in Ireland and promoting the benefits arising from all aspects of good practice and behaving with integrity across all areas of society.

EBEN Ireland established a website www.eben.ie in 2011, with over 100 pages and varied content, with the most popular section being advice on decision making in dilemma situations.

EBENI is looking for a number of talented and dedicated people to serve on a voluntary basis as Director and Charity Trustee and/or as a Committee member.

Meetings may be held in Dublin, but people are welcome to apply from anywhere in Ireland and from a variety of backgrounds including, but not limited to, academia, industry & public sector, both active and retired, from multinationals and larger Irish entities to self-employed and sole practitioners, with a common interest in integrity in business and across society.

Applications can be sent via email to ebenirl@gmail.com or through Boardmatch.

If you already have an interest in business ethics, please describe how and when this arose, especially if it can be traced to specific situations or incidents.

We would also be interested to hear of any prior or current involvement in this or related fields and contributions you made.

At your discretion, you could choose to briefly recount relevant past experiences of either good or bad business ethics that impacted you favourably or unfavourably, in a general manner without mentioning names of organisations or people, nor disclosing private or confidential details.

Furthermore, any suggestions on how you believe corporate, organisational and/or societal integrity could be improved, or initiatives you consider could be introduced, either generally or by EBEN Ireland, would also be appreciated.

We welcome suggestions in areas of personal interest such as explaining the benefits of behaving with integrity, improving standards in business and society, or helping people face ethical dilemmas and injustices in the workplace, from any perspective varying from philosophical to psychological, theoretical and practical, such as the impact of leadership style and personality on tone at the top and corporate culture, as well as trust and reputation, teamwork and cooperation, or any aspect of accountable and responsible management and leadership of businesses and other organisations, including politics and government, which appeal to you or seem relevant as you consider such matters.

In essence, we are looking for both experienced and youthful team players keen to guide EBEN Ireland as an entity to be the most effective it can be, in line with these stated ten goals and others, while maybe even "making a difference" as, along with our European colleagues, we seek to achieve EBEN's Mission "to promote ethics and excellence in businesses, to increase awareness about ethical challenges in the global marketplace and to enable dialogue on the role of business in society."
