With a head office in Dublin, Ireland and support offices in South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the USA, Concern targets programmes in fragile and conflict-affected contexts. It employs approximately nearly 3,500 people across the globe and currently operates in 26 programme countries.
Role Purpose: As People Director, you will lead a highly effective people team to ensure that the organisation has the culture and talent to deliver on its mission at a time when the combination of conflict and climate change has greatly intensified the severity and complexity of the contexts in which we work, and the funding environment is becoming ever more complicated and competitive.
We work in volatile, uncertain and often insecure contexts and all of our people across the organisation, including the People Director, need to have the capacity to respond rapidly to emerging or sudden-onset crises.
The People Director will drive the organisation's People Strategy, providing strong overall management to the people function. You will be a member of the Senior Management Team, the group charged with the global leadership of the organisation.
Responsibilities- As part of the senior management team, contribute to the development of the organisation's overall strategic direction and decision-making processes.
- Lead the People Directorate as the organisation responds to changing work patterns and evolves its international and national structures, including supporting subsequent change management processes.
- In delivering the People Strategy, foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and measurement of impact, supported by people analytics and data driven decision making.
- Reinforce and model, in line with organisation policies, a culture that prioritises providing all employees with a safe, respectful, and supportive workplace that fosters diversity, empathy, inclusiveness and a sense of belonging, where each individual feels valued and protected from any harm, and able to deliver their best work in support of Concern's mission.
- Operate critical enabling functions e.g., recruitment, performance development, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and data recording and analysis in line with good practice and legal compliance.
- Oversee learning and organisational development initiatives, with a specific focus on succession planning and talent development.
- Work with other functions/directorates to manage risk and enable the organisation to work effectively in fragile contexts.
- In line with good practice, support the development of wellbeing initiatives that improve individual and organisational capacity to respond to critical events and emergencies, and which support the development of a resilient workforce.
- Through establishing and maintaining internal and external networks, stay abreast of good practice and trends in the NGO sector, with a specific focus on people matters.
- Demonstrate willingness and ability to undertake short-term deployments and visits to any of our country programmes as needed.
- Strong commitment to the vison, mission and values of Concern.
- Significant proven and demonstrable experience in a senior HR management role, preferably with experience of working in a similar role within an NGO or relevant multinational environment.
- Significant proven and demonstrable experience in delivering both strategic and operational HR initiatives with a focus on offering practical HR solutions to management and employees.
- Post graduate qualification in a related discipline or equivalent years of professional experience.
- Strong relationship development, facilitation and communication skills, and proven capacity to negotiate priorities at a senior level.
- Strong ability to manage successful working relationships at all levels across a multi-cultural workforce.
- Fluency in English (essential) and French (desirable).
