Job Purpose

Implement country level business strategy and lead country's business operations to achieve short and long term financial and operational objectives (profitability, revenue, productivity and market share) in line with DHL vision and strategy, standards and guidelines.

Differentiator

  • A highly experienced manager who manages within a nominated sub-function.
  • Responsible for short to mid-term (1-3 years) execution of functional strategy and operational direction.
  • Problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis.

Key Tasks

  • Implement country level business strategy in line with DHL vision and strategy, standards and guidelines.
  • Plan, organize and ensure country's business management and operations in line with set objectives.
  • Lead sales, marketing and operations, and oversee accounting, purchasing, personnel, and/or financial functions.
  • Ensure country's P&L (EBITA etc.), cost and revenue management.
  • Monitor consolidated budget for the country and recommend course corrections for variances to budgets.
  • Assess and report country performance and recommend plans for improvement.
  • Explore, identify growth opportunities and propose market expansion plans.
  • Resolve conflicts/issues and ensure effective execution for critical areas such as matters related to product and market strategy, business development, investments, etc.
  • Analyze complex multi-dimensional issues extensively and improve, change or adapt existing methods, techniques and/or processes to be more efficient.

Stakeholders

  • Communicate and influence senior business leaders outside of own job area to accept practices and approaches.
  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with senior business leaders across DHL.
  • Cooperate with and coordinate 3rd parties e.g. external service providers.
  • May lead negotiations.

Management Responsibilities

  • Manage a department or a small unit that includes multiple teams led by Managers and/or Team Leaders.
  • Responsibility for Air, Ocean, Road, Control Tower and Hillebrand Gori business.
  • Managing Director for the Hillebrand Gori business in Ireland.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

Education Level:

Bachelor's degree.

Experience Level:

More than 10 years in Logistics, preferable Air & Ocean.

Strong sales mindset with drive to accelerate business growth.

Good local market knowledge or international mindset (e.g. experience from expat assignments).

Proven track record in managing large scale P/L.

Senior people leader (minimum 100 heads/FTE).

Experience of working in matrix organizations.
