Job Description:

Windmill Healthcare is recruiting for a Domestic Assistant - Cleaning & Kitchen at Killeline Care Centre, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. You will contribute to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the care centre.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Cleaning

  • Maintain all areas in the care centre to a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness, and hygiene.
  • Carry out housekeeping duties including cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, polishing, and mopping of equipment, furnishings, crockery, kitchen appliances, toilets, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, windows, and refuse areas.
  • Dispose of domestic and hazardous waste properly; ensure bins are cleaned and hygienic.
  • Clean spillages promptly and use safety signs appropriately.
  • Follow infection control policies and stay updated on best practices.
  • Report and record any defects or issues affecting service quality.
  • Manage resident laundry: sorting, preparing, and coordinating with external laundry services.
  • Fold and store clothing and linen; make residents' beds and keep rooms presentable.
  • Ensure health, safety, fire, and infection control standards are met in the laundry area.
  • Assist in meal and beverage preparation and service, ensuring hygiene and efficiency.
  • Prepare residents' trays and dining areas with necessary utensils and food.
  • Clean kitchen and dining areas and maintain hygiene standards according to HACCP and COSHH regulations.
  • Assist with record keeping as required.

Variation of Duties: You may be required to undertake other duties within the scope of the post.

  • Practice good health and safety procedures.
  • Passionate about providing outstanding care to older people, with a caring, patient, and positive attitude.
  • Establish respectful and equal relationships with residents.
