Senior Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join a specialist Older Persons Rehabilitation Unit in Tipperary. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment where your clinical expertise will play a key role in helping older adults regain independence and function following illness or injury.

About the Role:

This role involves working with clients aged 65 and over in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. You will provide specialised assessment, goal setting, and intervention aimed at promoting recovery, enhancing quality of life, and facilitating safe discharge to home or community settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and tailored rehabilitation programmes
  • Address functional decline related to mobility, self-care, cognition, and environmental access
  • Work collaboratively with physiotherapists, nursing, medical teams, and social workers
  • Lead discharge planning with a focus on client safety, independence, and continuity of care
  • Support junior staff and students through supervision and clinical guidance
  • Participate in audit, service evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • CORU registration (essential)
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience, ideally with older adults or in rehabilitation
  • Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and leadership skills
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary inpatient or transitional care settings
  • Full clean driving licence (may be required for follow-up/community liaison)
