
Youth Service Support Worker

Youth Service Support Worker role at Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA), based in Clontarf Community Centre and also covering North County Dublin. 12 hour per week, 12 month fixed term contract.
Responsibilities- Support Service Manager to implement a range of group workshops and activities based on the choices and needs of young adults.
- Support individual young adults in line with the Association's person-centred approach and through Personal Goals work.
- Support young adults involved in the School Leaver Service Rehabilitative Training Units activities.
- Assist with safe transportation in line with requirements of the Transport Handbook guidelines.
- Assist young adults in all aspects of personal care and daily living as identified by each individual.
- Accompany and support young adults on outings, social trips and holidays as required.
- Ensure that your work and interactions promote and enhance the independence of service users.
- Prepare and maintain hard copy and online records as required by the Service Manager/Support Officers.
- Undertake training as directed by the Service Manager/Support Officers.
- Adhere to health and safety standards, and record and report hazards or accidents to the Service Manager/Support Officers.
- Carry out other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned, to support young adult services.
- Safeguard children and adults from abuse or harm and adhere to IWA's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
- A minimum of 5 completed modules of QQI Level 5 (Major Award) Care Support or similar qualification is essential. Relevant QQI Major Awards may include:
- Community Health Services (including Safety Health at Work and Care Provision Practice)
- Health Service Skills (including Workplace Statutory Policies Procedures and Care Skills and Care Support)
- Health Care Support (including Safety Health at Work and Care Skills and Care Support)
- Youth Work (no specific minor components required)
- Full Driver's Licence and willingness to drive the Irish Wheelchair Association bus to transport service users.
- Knowledge and experience in developing and delivering projects or programmes.
- Experience working with people with disabilities is required.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, transport safety and standards of use is essential.
- Experience driving transit vans to transport people with disabilities.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative; strong relationship-building and customer service focus.
- Competencies: Communicating and Influencing; Motivating and Empowering; Innovation and Creativity; Planning and Organising; Quality and Customer Focus.
- Salary range: €15.37 to €17.11 per hour DOE.
- The current pay scale is subject to a 9.25% pay increase over the next 2 years (up to October 2026), aligning with the WRC agreement for Section 39 organisations.
