Associate Director- Accountancy & Finance

Overview:

An international organisation with a strong operational footprint across Ireland, the UK, Europe, and North America is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the day-to-day activities of its finance function. Reporting to the Finance Director and working with the Head of Finance, this is a key leadership role with responsibility for financial control, reporting, and team management within a fast-paced, evolving business environment.

Purpose of the Role:

To ensure the integrity of financial operations by overseeing all aspects of monthly reporting, compliance, and financial control. The successful candidate will lead a large finance team, partner with senior business stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement across systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Review and consolidate balance sheet reconciliations and P&L performance
  • Work with finance leadership on strategic projects and system upgrades
  • Analyse financial results, identify trends, and present insights to senior leadership
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and working capital initiatives
  • Lead and develop a team of finance professionals across AP, AR, and GL functions
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and audit requirements
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks
  • Drive improvements in systems, reporting tools, and finance processes
  • Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and Group Finance

Candidate Requirements:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA preferred) with 5+ years PQE
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring a large finance team
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Advanced Excel capabilities and strong systems knowledge
  • Solid understanding of Irish and UK tax regulations
  • Comfortable operating in a deadline-driven, change-oriented environment

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded finance leader with a hands-on approach and a strong control mindset. They are comfortable managing competing priorities, developing high-performing teams, and influencing senior stakeholders across the organisation. A background in large or complex organisations will be beneficial.
