Building on this foundation, WHC Lab Group is expanding our existing precision and traditional fermentation contract manufacturing division, supported by advanced spray drying and fluid bed drying capabilities.
This division is designed to support innovative companies from startups to global leaders in alternative proteins, functional ingredients, food innovation, and specialty biotech.
As part of this strategic growth, we are now seeking a Business Development Officer to help establish and scale this division across Europe. This role offers a clear pathway to directorship and the opportunity to build out a new business unit within a fast-growing biotechnology company.
We are seeking a Business Development Officer to drive growth in the European market. This is not just a sales role, it is a strategic stepping stone toward directorship. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building out a new business division, helping to shape its direction, client portfolio, and long-term growth strategy.
You will identify and develop partnerships with startups, scale-ups, and established companies in the food, nutrition, biotech, and specialty ingredients sectors, positioning WHC Lab group as the partner of choice in Europe.
- Develop and execute a business development strategy for the EU market.
- Identify, prospect, and secure new clients in precision fermentation, alternative proteins, functional ingredients, and biotech applications.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities across food, nutrition, and life sciences sectors.
- Collaborate with technical, process, and operations teams to ensure seamless client onboarding and project delivery.
- Represent WHC Lab at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
- Negotiate and close commercial agreements in alignment with company goals.
- Provide regular market insights on trends, competitors, and client needs.
- Contribute to the strategic development of a new division, with a clear pathway to directorship for the right candidate.
- Proven track record in business development / sales in biotech, food ingredients, fermentation, or contract manufacturing.
- Strong network in the European foodtech, biotech, and nutrition industries.
- Knowledge of precision fermentation and downstream processes (spray drying, fluid bed drying, or related technologies).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong mindset with the ability to build and shape a business unit.
- Ability to work independently, with flexibility to travel across Europe.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Food Technology, Business, or related field.
