Location: Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny
Hours: 35 hours per week

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team with the line manager to ensure service objectives are met and reviewed so as to maintain, improve and develop the service.
  • Manage risk in a systematic way that is embedded in a culture of safety, welfare and quality of life for residents.
  • Support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Difficulties, ensuring that they achieve their full potential.
  • Assist with intimate care.
  • Liaise with service users, their network of support, family members and other professionals where applicable to ensure consistent planning.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues and management to establish, maintain and monitor standards of performance for all aspects of the service, including the people we support in involvement and consultation.
  • Facilitate and support individual programmes of meaningful activities.
  • Support the people we support with regular exercise and outdoor activities.

Personal ProfileEducation & Training
  • QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare (all 8 modules completed).
Experience
  • Working with individuals with intellectual disability/ASD is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in delivering low arousal approaches in a person-centred environment.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Theoretical understanding of Intellectual Disability.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Computer literacy.
