Health and Safety Lead

Type of role: Contract 3 to 6 months

Location: County Kildare

Industry: Facilities, Manufacturing

Reporting to the Strategic Account Director with a focus on a large strategic client

Desirable Skills & Certifications:

  • Safe Pass
  • PSDP / PSCS knowledge
  • Manual Handling Trainer
  • Office Ergonomics / VDU Assessor
  • "Train the Trainer" qualification
  • Internal Auditor certification
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (or actively working towards) – minimum level 6

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage the risk assessment program and identify how risks can be reduced;
  • To develop safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards;
  • To provide leadership to the management of Health & Safety on site
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check that policies and procedures are being properly implemented;
  • Internal audits tracking and directing follow-up activities to correct any non-conformity.
  • Lead in the preparation of health and safety strategies and developing internal policy;
  • To advise on fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise and compliance.
  • To develop and manage the site Safety Management system and to ensure that it is maintained in a constant state of audit readiness,
  • Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks;
  • To keep records of inspection findings and producing reports that suggest improvements;
  • To record and support the investigation of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers;
  • Support contractor management activities;
  • To oversee the Permit to Work system and to issue permits.
  • To attend Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and other seminars;
  • To produce management reports, safety briefings and KPIs

5+ years experience in a similar role
