
Commercial Manager

The Commercial Manager plays a critical role in securing the long-term financial and strategic success of our renewable energy projects. This role is responsible for leading the origination, negotiation and management of key commercial agreements, supporting project delivery and funding teams through relevant commercial and financial arrangements, including all route-to-market, off-take and funding opportunities. The Commercial Manager works closely with internal teams and external advisory partners to ensure commercial outcomes align with project goals and the Company's mission to accelerate the energy transition in Ireland.
Responsibilities
Shareholder & Partnership Agreements
- Lead the negotiation and execution of shareholder agreements, ensuring alignment with project strategy and corporate governance requirements.
- Negotiate relevant agreements with partner developers, ensuring clarity of roles, and protection of the companies investments and preservation of long-term project value.
Commercial Contract Negotiation
- Collaborate with project teams and procurement specialists to negotiate key contracts including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Asset Management Agreements, and Turbine Supply Agreements.
- Support the commercial structuring of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) or Balance of Plant (BoP) contracts where required.
Route-to-Market Origination
- Lead the identification and origination of route-to-market opportunities, including traditional PPAs and emerging corporate 24/7 clean Power Purchase Agreements (cPPAs).
- Assess and recommend commercial strategies that optimise project revenue and de-risk exposure to market volatility.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Act as a key commercial advisor during project investment decisions and Board-level approvals, collaborating with internal project teams & specialists and external advisors.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage commercial interfaces with external stakeholders including JV partners, off-takers, suppliers, legal advisors, and grid operators.
- Represent the Company in negotiations with professionalism and commercial acumen.
- Collaborate with project teams and insurance brokers to identify and contractually capture all insurable risks across the portfolio.
Ensure insurance provisions in commercial agreements align with business risk thresholds and are consistently reflected in all project-level contracts.
- Contribute to the development of commercial best practice templates, processes, and risk frameworks.
- Ensure all commercial activities reflect the Company's values and meet internal and regulatory compliance standards.

- 10+ years' experience in a commercial, legal, or business development role, ideally within the renewable energy, infrastructure, or utilities sector.
- Proven track record in negotiating shareholder agreements, joint ventures, or high-value commercial contracts.
- Familiarity with renewable energy project structures, financing arrangements, investment models, and procurement strategies.
- Strong understanding of PPA markets, including experience with corporate or utility offtakers.
- Legal, finance, and/or engineering background with exposure to energy project development or delivery.
- Experience with Irish or EU energy markets, including RESS schemes, cPPAs, and regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of grid connection and energy trading concepts.
Education:
- Degree in Business, Law, Engineering, Economics, or related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MBA, MSc) an advantage.
