Job Description
REPORTING TO: Commercial Quotations Engineer
About Sanmina Fermoy
Our Fermoy, Ireland, facility is FDA registered and certified to ISO ISO13485:2016 for the manufacture of high-quality PCBAs, subassemblies and complete devices up to and including Class III medical devices.
Sanmina Fermoy's core specialization is manufacturing automation. We provide services for the entire product lifecycle from New Product Introduction (NPI), prototyping and process validation to complex volume manufacturing & test, shipping and repair. We create a state-of-the-art environment for manufacturing medical and other high-quality devices. The facility has a track record of 30 years of outstanding operational performance and customer service, backed by a highly experienced workforce.

OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:
- Be part of a product development team, bringing leading-edge products to market including class 3 medical devices.
- Analysis of manufacturing processes for efficiency, cost reduction, and quality enhancement. This includes conducting time studies, workflow analysis, and implementing lean manufacturing principles
- Support customer engagement for new products and assist with new Business Opportunity Analysis.
- Preparation/Presentation of accurate, timely, & competitive quotations and product proposals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support quotation process by analysing potential new customer data packs and estimate required process steps and cycle times, highlighting potential challenges or atypical requirements.
- Estimation of all Non Recurring Expenses (NRE), equipment requirements and resource costs for new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with corporate business development managers, engineering, quality and production teams to gather necessary information for quotations.
- Monitor status of new products and ensure effective execution of projects according to required product specification, internal procedures and customer expectations.
- Verify the revision before use. Official document and revision history is available on Agile.
- Ensure that all quotes are compatible with Corporate Reporting standards.
- Provide Engineering support for all activities in the product development process.
- Prepare plans for NPI phases and coordinate with all stakeholders and ensure good quality products.
- Planning and process time studies of existing processes to support new and existing customers.
- Ensure effective execution of projects according to required product specification, internal procedures and customer expectations.
- Configure assembly processes, sequence of activities, and material handling toward lean manufacturing practices.
- Provide DFx with focus on DFM & DFA on New Product opportunities.
- Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Legislation and Regulations.
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL:
- NFQ Level 8 Degree in an Engineering discipline (production, process, operations).
- Good communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to effectively present information to customers and internal personnel at all levels.
- Excellent PC skills especially MS-Excel.
- Flexible & capable of working under pressure.
DESIRABLE:
- Business or Financial basic knowledge on profitability, return on investment, carrying cost.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Project Management Qualification and /or experience.
- Experience with medical devices production, electronics, assembly or cleanroom processes.
