With full responsibility for leading the Project Control function for the RBU, the objective of this position is to ensure the consistent delivery world-class project outcomes through the effective management of cost, time and performance.
As an active and visible champion of the Exyte Way, you will work closely with the VP RBU DTC Project Delivery to minimize any variance in costs and schedule from what was originally planned, drive the organization to a consistent level of project control performance and to implement strategic initiatives.
As the RBU DTC Project Control lead, you will be at the forefront of the leadership of the RBU DTC, fostering a lean management approach, and leading collaboration across the regional, functional and company resources within the Group.
Responsibilities- Project Control lead for all RBU DTC. Specific areas of focus and responsibility of this key role are Project Set Up, Planning and Scheduling, Cost Control, Estimating and Document Control.
- Develop and implement the RBU Project Control strategy to align with wider corporate philosophy, business objectives and specific expectations within the data center industry.
- Drive the adoption of a one ERP approach through the implementation of Exyte policies and procedures, including Lean management processes, adoption of 5D implementation, and software solutions for estimating (RIB Candy), resource management (MMS), planning and scheduling (P6), progress reporting (TMS) and document management (DMCS) to streamline project management processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide hands-on support and oversight with project set up (including promotion of the project management academy) to ensure processes, systems, tools and effective document control are consistently implemented at the earliest possible stage and maintained across the business.
- Ensure the implementation of effective project controls across the entire project life cycle from estimating initial baseline performance metrics, determining the current status of the project, estimating future potential of the project, identifying any variances and proposing appropriate action to be taken to recover any deviations.
- Support teams in cost and schedule risk analysis through the development and assessment of options under various scenarios to reduce risk and enhance predictability of project returns.
- Provide the foundation for efficient project management and support decision-making through the consistent collection, evaluation and reporting of data related to costs and schedules to measure project progress.
- Enable an Earned Value Management approach to progress measurement and forecasting of project total cost/date of completion.
- Continually capture and share benchmark data, best practice and innovation for future projects.
- Cultivate a positive and high-performing culture within regional and project teams and encourage an environment in which challenges are shared openly and addressed head-on, fostering teamwork and delivering sustainable results.
- Collaborate closely with corporate, regional area and regional business unit personnel and teams to ensure aligned messaging and approach.
- Assist with the recruitment and development of Project Control specialists to support RBU operations.
- Provide early-stage support to business acquisition teams, including preparation of relevant technical bid deliverables.
- Provide support to client pre-qualification, project interviews etc. from a project controls perspective.
- Provide lead client / statutory Project Control liaison and support.
- Continually champion a lean management approach and the Exyte way.
- Global travel to Exyte offices and project sites as well as customer meetings on an as needed and often short notice basis.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in project management/controls, engineering, construction management or related field.
- 15+ years' experience in the construction industry.
- Experience in a medium or large company in a lead project control or operational role as part of the senior management team.
- Experience in the construction industry, preferably in the DTC sector.
- Proven expertise in Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM) or EPC environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries.
- Proven track record of world class project control delivery and software/tools.
- Experience of effectively managing customer and stakeholder relationships.
- Specific experience in key technical areas such as civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical will be an advantage in fulfilling the responsibilities of the role.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex issues to a variety of stakeholders in English.
