Overview

Senior Recruitment Consultant at Methodius Ltd. My client, a long established and multinational utility contractor in maintenance and construction of Electrical and Telecommunications infrastructure, is currently looking to hire a Substation Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. You'll be based in their Dublin office, with flexibility on location in Ireland.

The Role

The Role: Team Lead and Substation Technical Expert within the Engineering Team. Ownership of electrical substation design: primary design, secondary design, design calculations, procurement specifications. Lead team members, monitor progress versus costs and programme. Review and approve team submissions in advance of issue, identifying value engineering opportunities where possible.

Support team members in projects as assigned throughout each contract. Take ownership and actively manage substation design projects when required. Identify design risks and propose mitigation techniques.

Qualifications and experience

Degree in Electrical Engineering. 7+ years hands-on experience. Good knowledge of software: AutoCAD, ePlan, MS Office. Experience with design studies and cable design software would be an advantage. Good knowledge of the substation, utilities and renewables sector. Good understanding of the design and construction interfacing requirements. Good client-facing skills. Able to work independently and to manage a team. Familiarity with ESB/Eirgrid specifications and design requirements an advantage. Open to innovation and collaboration. Proactive with the ability to think ahead.

Travel onsite may occasionally be required, but the role is an office-based position.
