Little Moon Animation is on the lookout for a creative and dynamic Concept Artist to join our vibrant team. This role is integral to designing characters, locations and props from initial sketches to final approved artwork, under the guidance of our Director and Art Director. You'll delve into research, explore designs with references, and work within the constraints of specific briefs. We seek someone who is constantly aiming to elevate their craft and thrives in a collaborative team environment.

Job Description: Concept Artist

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Start Date: January/February 2024

Type of Position: Fixed Term Contract, Full-Time

Hours: 9am-6pm, Monday – Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with Art Director and Director.
  2. Design characters, locations and props with unique style and personality, in line with story requirements and briefs.
  3. Research and explore designs through various references.
  4. Collaborate effectively within a team to interpret concepts and support fellow team members.
  5. Manage assets and time efficiently to meet strict deadlines.
  6. Actively respond to feedback and notes.
  7. Participate in various design phases, from conceptualising and quality reviews to resource integration.
  8. Create and refine striking designs within set production schedules.
  9. Work closely with departments like Modelling to ensure concept designs fit seamlessly within project workflows.

Key Requirements:

  1. Ideally 2 years' experience as a Concept Artist in the animation or games industry.
  2. Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design skills and artistic creativity.
  3. Adaptable to various styles of shows and projects.
  4. Proficient with design tools such as Photoshop, or equivalent.
  5. Solid traditional drawing skills, especially in perspective and human anatomy.
  6. Deep understanding of colour theory, volume, and value structures.
  7. Ability to depict characters' emotional and physical traits through exploratory designs.
  8. Strong collaborative spirit, open to direction and feedback from leads and art directors.
  9. Creative problem-solving mindset, with a keenness for challenges and finding innovative solutions.
  10. Knowledgeable in 3D animation workflows.
  11. Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  12. Ability to adapt to changes and thrive in a busy studio environment.

Salary: Negotiable based on industry experience
