Role Overview

This new role will be responsible for second line oversight of technology risk and cyber security for the Europe Business segment, including Irish Life Group, Canada Life UK and Canada Life Europe (Germany). You will help implement the vision and future roadmap for second line business partnering and oversight across the European segment to reflect and support current and future needs of the organization.

Team Background

Technology Risk and Operational Resilience Oversight sits within Canada Life Group and provides independent second line of defence oversight of technology, cyber security and operational resilience activities across all European entities. The second line is positioned to deliver impactful challenge, oversight and business partnership across technology, cyber and operational resilience activities of the European businesses.

What you will help us to achieve

Reporting to the Technology Risk Senior Business Partner, Europe, you will lead the second line Technology Risk and Information Security business partnership with some regulated entities. You will be the second line subject matter expert for one or more domain areas (e.g., cyber security, cloud technology, technology infrastructure or SDLC). You will help develop and implement the vision and roadmap for second line support of technology risk and information security across the European business segment, with significant senior level engagement and stakeholder management across Europe and Lifeco.

Responsibilities

• Leadership: Develop and communicate long-term visions for second line oversight of technology risk and information security; provide expert risk-based decision support and regulatory alignment; establish thought leadership; develop strategies to address significant risks; collaborate with leadership to align strategies and cultivate senior relationships.
• Risk Management and Executive Engagement: Implement policies and standards for technology and information security risk management; report on risk posture and escalate as needed; undertake independent reviews and provide analysis on threats and cyber events.
• Governance and Operations: Ensure effective executive risk committees and adherence to risk standards; coordinate with CIOs and risk leads to secure funding and support for risk initiatives; drive continuous process improvement and regulator engagement.

What you will need to be successful

• Deep knowledge of risk management frameworks for technology, security and resilience operations.
• Strong expertise in at least one technology domain such as information security, cloud technology, technology infrastructure, or SDLC.
• Proven track record in leading technology risk and security in large, complex organizations.
• Familiarity with regulatory matters and European regulatory trends; experience presenting to executives, boards and regulators.
• Strategic thinker with ability to implement technology risk and cyber security visions aligned with organizational needs.
• Experience applying market trends and technology innovation to practical applications.
