Post specific related information

Provide professional / clinical leadership in the designated area(s) of responsibility. To oversee the management of resources including staffing and staff development. To facilitate communication across the healthcare teams.

The CNM3 in General Medicine has day to day operational responsibilities which include the

following;
  • The promotion of best practice that is evidence based with the ultimate outcome of

improving patient care and outcomes.
  • Provide senior and expert professional advice to the Nursing and wider care team and

the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure appropriate skill-mix and efficient deployment of staffing and other resources

across departments.
  • The implementation of the Quality Safety and Risk Framework within associated

specialities.
  • The continuous development of service based clinical governance teams.
  • The development and monitoring of key Service Objectives in line with local and national

service and professional requirements.
  • Maintaining a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary and inter departmental

working.
  • Recruitment, retention and monitoring of staff performance within the service.
  • Establishing and promoting effective channels of communication internally within the

department and with other departments in order to provide a seamless service to include

Patient flow.
  • The operational management of the nursing teams in general medicine including Human

Resources and Finance functions to support effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Providing on-going practical and psychological support for nursing staff and other

members of the multidisciplinary teams.
  • The post holder will support the implementation of the group Nursing Strategy.
