Centre Manager/Person in charge, Listowel Respite Service (39 hrs per week)

Applications are invited for the Centre Manager/Person in charge - Listowel Respite Service. The successful candidate will be in the leadership, management and development of the service supporting adults with an Intellectual Disability. The Centre Manager/PIC will be responsible for the organisation and allocation of resources, for the successful implementation of the Association's policies and the day to day management of the service.

Post: Centre Manager/Person in charge - Listowel Respite Service

Contract: Fixed Term, Full-Time (39 hours per week) - 12 months

Location: Listowel, Co Kerry.

Roster: Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri: 09:00 - 17:30 / Thurs: 09:00 - 16:30

Brook Lodge provides respite to 18 individuals with a moderate intellectual disability, with Autism.

  • Support the overall day-to-day management of the Service.
  • Responsible for effectively leading, motivating and supervising the staff team.
  • Responsible for effectively managing the available resources, within the allocated budget in consultation with the Assistant Director of Services.
  • To support staff to train and upskill in models appropriate to ID/Autism Services.
  • Responsible for ensuring the provision of a person centred service to those supported by KPFA.
  • To be the key communicator to all stakeholders, i.e. staff, residents, management, family and other Service providers.
  • To develop relationships and linkages with community groups and other disability agencies.
  • To ensure that all staff work in a co-ordinated manner and in the best interests of each person.
  • To act as the Person In Charge in accordance with HIQA Regulations.
  • The post is evolutionary in nature and consequently the Centre Manager/PIC may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to him/her from time to time.
Essential Criteria
  • Level 7 or higher qualification in Social Care, Nursing (RNID preferred), or another relevant health/social care discipline (Level 8 desirable); and
  • Formal management qualification in health or social care (minimum Level 6, e.g., Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Leadership or Management); and
  • At least three years' management or supervisory experience in the sector, which must include the supervision of staff and volunteers.
  • Demonstrate evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
  • For Nursing Applicants: Must be registered, in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) at the time of application, and must maintain active annual registration for the duration of employment.
  • For Social Care Applicants: Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date, hold a professional registration, or be eligible for registration, on the Social Care Workers register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU.
  • For Health Professionals: Must be registered, with the relevant professional registration board under CORU and maintain active registration for the duration of employment.
  • Have a suitable standard of professional attainments.
  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office).
  • Be computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge and proficiency of using information systems.
  • An excellent knowledge of statutory regulations, standards, the role of a person in charge and Health Act 2007.
  • Good understanding of HR processes including grievances, disciplinaries, people management, communication and engagement.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of flexibility.
  • A proven ability to lead and support teams.
  • Experience of commitment to promoting community presence and ability to demonstrate problem solving skills.
  • Must have experience of using alternative communication methods.
  • Previous experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific and clinical support requirements and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines is desirable.
Other
  • Applicants must have a full drivers licence with access to a road worthy car insured for business purposes.

Highly Desirable requirements
  • Post-Graduate Diploma or Masters Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Senior management experience in Disability Services or a related sector.

Failure to provide this information, along with a satisfactorily completed verification of service form before an agreed start date, will result in placement at Point 1 of the applicable scale. Incremental credit will only be applied from the date correct documents are submitted.
