Job Description – Freelance Health & Safety Advisor (Advanced Construction Projects)

Position: Freelance Health & Safety Advisor

Sector: Advanced Construction Projects (High-Tech, Complex Builds)

Contract Type: Freelance / Contract

Role: Freelance Health & Safety Advisor for major advanced construction projects across the UK and Europe. The successful candidate will provide expert advice, ensure compliance with legal and industry standards, and promote a culture of safety across multiple sites.

This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in construction health and safety, risk management, and experience supporting complex, high-value projects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert Health & Safety advice and guidance to project teams.
  • Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to UK and European Health & Safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents; produce reports and recommend preventative measures.
  • Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to site teams.
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to promote a proactive safety culture.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor in construction or advanced construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and European Health & Safety legislation and industry standards.
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Relevant H&S qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel across the UK and Europe as required.
  • Freelance/contract availability with immediate or short-term start.
