Overview

Role: Operations & Maintenance Technician
Location Base: Kenmare Waste Water Treatment Plant, also covering Boherbue, Macroom, Co. Cork
Salary: Competitive
Duration: Fixed Term contract for 24 months

Responsibilities
  • Take ownership and responsibility for allocated water and wastewater treatment plant facilities ensuring standards of quality and cleanliness are upheld.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and other periodic operation and maintenance checks to ensure the quality and quantity of any treated water produced or final effluent treated is within specification.
  • Complete grounds maintenance activities including grass cutting, cleaning and facilities maintenance.
  • Work alone as required; carry a lone working device and use it as per the operating procedure.
  • Visit each site regularly and fill a site visit report on the Site Reporting App for each visit.
  • Welcome visitors and provide induction; record visits on the Site Reporting App.
  • Perform site walkthroughs, visually inspecting all areas of the plant and treatment process, and record tasks in the Site Reporting App.
  • Respond to critical alarms to maintain water and wastewater treatment output.
  • Conduct and record process adjustments to ensure outputs meet required standards.
  • Carry out a weekly HSQE walkthrough of each plant and submit the Weekly HSQE Checklist for Operations.
  • Assist with the delivery of Capital Replacement Fund (CRF) projects when applicable.
  • Show eagerness to learn and progress in your career, and assist in mentoring junior staff.
  • Other duties as required from time to time.
  • Working hours are Monday to Sunday with a variable roster; times may vary weekly.
The Role

Based at Kenmare Water Treatment Plant with ownership of certain water treatment plant facilities; ensure treated water and final effluent meet specifications. All O&M Technicians work on call and share out-of-hours cover with the contract site team. A rota is managed by O&M office staff and changes require advance notice to the O&M Project Manager. Email and apps are essential business tools in day-to-day O&M activities. You will support the O&M project manager and engineer in daily operation and maintenance of live projects and have opportunities for progression.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience in water/wastewater plant operations is desirable.
  • Interest in developing a career within an industry-leading organisation.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in project delivery and contribute in team meetings.
  • Ability to engage with suppliers and sub-contractors at procurement and during contract delivery.
  • Ability to use own initiative, problem solve, and adjust as issues arise during O&M activities.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.
  • Full driving licence.
