The area provides an oral health service involving oral health assessment, health promotion, prevention and a dental treatment service to children and to adult with special needs in Dublin North. The unit works closely with colleagues in Primary Care and with hospital colleagues especially those involved in the organisation and provisions of dental general anaesthetic services to children and adults with special needs. Children who qualify for public orthodontic treatment are referred to the Orthodontic service. Treatment for adults who hold a medical card is contracted to private Dental Practitioners.
The Team includes a Principal Dental Surgeon, Senior Dental Surgeons, General Dental Surgeons, Dental Hygienists, Senior Dental Nurses, Dental Nurses and clerical staff. The team works closely with the HSE Orthodontic service.
