Social Care Assistant Residential Services Castlebar Co Mayo

Western Care Association is seeking a Social Care Assistant to join our Residential Services in Castlebar, Co Mayo. The role focuses on delivering person-centered support to adults, helping them gain valued social roles and participate in meaningful activities, while advocating for their individual needs and developing Individual Plans.

Responsibilities- Deliver person-centered care and support to service users as required
- Support individuals to participate in meaningful activities and develop appropriate supports
- Advocate on behalf of individuals regarding their needs, preferences, rights and goals
- Contribute to service planning and the development of the service to meet changing needs
- Promote safety and dignity in the work environment in line with Western Care practices
- Utilise positive approaches to support individuals who may display challenging behavior
- Experience in a person- and family-centered approach
- Understanding of equality and quality of life for all people
- Experience supporting people with high and/or complex needs
- Genuine interest in enabling positive opportunities and change
- Strong listening, advocacy and communication skills; ability to work with individuals, families and other disciplines
- Commitment to the ethos of the services
- Problem-solving and creativity in service delivery
- Self-motivation and time management
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Working knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations (essential)
- Flexibility to respond to service demands
- Good IT skills preferred
- No minimum qualification required for this position
- Contribute to local service planning and respond to evolving service needs
- Provide personal care and support as required
- Ensure a safe workplace in line with Dignity at Work and Health & Safety policies
- Promote safety in all environments
- Use positive approaches to support individuals with challenging behavior
- Full driver's license is essential
- All applicants subject to Garda Vetting and reference checks
- Applicants from outside the E.U. must provide valid work authorization
- Overseas Police Clearance may be required if lived outside ROI/NI for more than 6 months since age 18
- Social Care Assistant Pay Scale: €31,278 – €43,407 per annum (based on full-time 39 hours/week)
