Overview

Social Care Assistant, Residential Service Ballina & Crossmolina, Co Mayo at Western Care Association.

Responsibilities
  • Successful applicant will be required to deliver on the vision for the people they are supporting. You will support the individual to gain valued social roles in their lives and participate in meaningful creative activities through developing appropriate supports.
  • You will advocate on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs and preferences and support the development of their Individual Plans.
Qualifications and requirements
  • No minimum level is required for Social Care Assistant positions.
  • Experience in facilitating and supporting people who have high and/or complex needs is preferred.
  • Genuine understanding and interest in working alongside people to effect positive opportunities and change in their lives in a meaningful way.
  • Ability to listen, to see, and respectfully advocate for and on behalf of the individual regarding their needs, preferences, rights, and dreams.
  • Excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of teamwork with the motivation to deliver high-quality facilitation, working alongside individuals, their families, and other disciplines.
  • Strong belief in people's rights, inclusion, and equality.
  • Flexibility to respond to service demands from time to time.
  • Working knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations is essential.
  • Good IT skills are preferable.
Other requirements
  • Full driver's license is essential.
  • All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks.
  • All applicants from countries outside the E.U. must provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in the Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted with the application.
  • All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if they have lived outside the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland for more than 6 months since the age of 18 years.
Salary and employment details
  • Salary Scale: Social Care Assistant Pay Scale (Scale Range €31,278 to €43,407 per annum).
  • These vacancies are based on full-time working hours i.e. 39 hours per week.
  • Permanent 11.5 hours per week (Tuesday 6 hours & Friday 5.5 hours + Relief) - Reference Number B.
  • Permanent 30 hours per week + sleep ins - Reference Number A.
