Location: Dublin

Contract: Full-Time, Specific Purpose contract

The purpose of this role is to deliver a mediation service for young people who are moving out of care or on the edge of care, where family conflict is a main obstacle to positive outcomes. The mediator's role is to provide formal mediation aimed at resolving conflicts between young people and their families to facilitate a return to the family home, support transition from care, or sustain existing placements.

What You Will Do
  • Work within the framework and aims of Focus Ireland;
  • Provide mediation services to young people referred by social work teams, especially where family conflict is a barrier to positive outcomes;
  • Manage a caseload following best practices and evidence-based frameworks;
  • Communicate regularly with the Head of Youth Services about ongoing cases and issues;
  • Provide monthly progress reports to social workers and team leaders;
  • Participate in supervision sessions and team meetings;
  • Maintain accurate, confidential case notes and records;
  • Implement policies and procedures of the project and organization;
  • Collaborate with other services and stakeholders involved with the young person and family;
  • Participate in training, development, and evaluation activities;
  • Assist in measuring service outcomes and impacts;
  • Undertake other duties as assigned in consultation with the supervisor.
What You Will Need
  • Degree in Social Care or a related field;
  • Recognized qualification in mediation;
  • At least 2 years relevant post-qualification experience;
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and Welfare legislation;
  • Own transport;
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people and families (desirable);
  • Experience in a multi-agency environment (desirable).
