Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland Amazon Web Services (AWS) Full time
Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to innovation. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other essential roles. You'll collaborate across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers. You'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The Global Network Delivery organization is hiring a highly motivated Network Deployment Planner to join our Planning and Implementation team within AWS Data Center Delivery. The team scopes and plans interdependent capacity scaling projects and new network capacity deployments across multiple data center locations, reviewing project forecasts to ensure physical infrastructure resources are available for execution. The Network Deployment Planner will collaborate with infrastructure supply chain & procurement, network engineering, and technical program managers to plan and deliver capacity to local data center installation & deployment technicians for smooth execution.

The ideal candidate will have a technology background enabling them to understand the complexities of Amazon data center networks. Candidates must be highly autonomous, detail oriented, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and have experience with managing network deployment projects. They should be competent in networking principles, data center operations, cable infrastructure, and fiber solutions.

This role provides autonomous work with minimal supervision to drive stability and scalability of next-generation networks and to help innovate ways to automate and scale as we expand. A fast-paced, collaborative environment with ambiguity is essential for success.

Key job responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes with a focus on improvement.
  • Work closely with Install/Deployment Technicians, Supply Chain & Procurement, Network Engineers, and Technical Project Managers to ensure fast, smooth delivery of on-demand customer capacity.
  • Knowledge of network cabling and optic types.
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with common networking terms.
  • Excellent judgment and analytical skills; ability to prioritize tasks based on fluctuating needs and strong prioritization and time management.
  • Coordination of design, project timeline/schedule, and construction milestones.
  • Experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management; well organized and able to work under time pressure.
