The Senior Security Engineer supports the Office of the Optum CISO as part of the Enterprise Information Security (EIS) program and supports both line of business and enterprise security initiatives. The role requires a technical expert with a focus on cloud security, vulnerability management and identity and access management to act as a central point of contact for security process issues and questions.

Primary Responsibilities Of The Senior Information Security Engineer
  1. Work with businesses across the UK & Ireland to ensure alignment with EIS policies and standards and establish risk prioritized cyber security processes and controls.
  2. Implement security measures and configurations for cloud services, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments. Understanding secure cloud architecture for various cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, and GCP.
  3. Serve as a local point of contact for EIS policy and process issues and escalations, particularly cloud and network security.
  4. Contribute as a team member in major programs or change initiatives aimed at increasing the enterprise security capabilities e.g., acquired entity integration, vulnerability management, etc.
  5. Communicate to senior management on risk management concepts, as well as specific project risks and risk mitigation options/scenarios.
  6. Maintain a deep understanding of the business, our patients and healthcare-delivery models. This understanding includes key systems, key contacts, priorities and concerns within the business and IT.
  7. Maintain current knowledge on information security topics and their applicability to the enterprise and the healthcare industry.

Required Qualifications Of The Senior Information Security Engineer
  1. Bachelor's degree in an IT related discipline or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience working in large and highly regulated organizations.
  3. Demonstrable experience with securing public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  4. Experience with practical interpretation and application of policy and standards.
  5. Subject matter expert knowledge of the technology aspects of security.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience with GDPR, HIPAA & PCI frameworks.
  2. Technical security certification like CISSP, CCSP, CEH, etc.
