Overview

Electrical Construction Manager | Limerick – Permanent position with Kirby Group Engineering. Involves delivering on-site activities from pre-mobilisation through commissioning and demobilisation on a varied range of projects. The role represents the Project Manager and Kirby Group on major construction sites.

Responsibilities
  • Project Start-Up: assist in developing construction programme and short-term look-ahead plans, prepare equipment and materials schedules, visit site to establish site setup, assist in project validation, develop site safety starter pack, prepare method statements and risk assessments, review construction drawings, and benchmark installation practices and quality procedures.
  • Project Running Phase: manage productivity, develop daily action plans covering HSEQ, productivity and people management, expedite major equipment deliveries, maintain a site diary, attend/lead internal meetings with sub-contractors, manage variations with PM and QS, ensure labour allocation is completed, produce and update short-term programmes aligned to the master programme, and supervise sub-contractor activity to maintain on-time delivery.
  • People: liaise with sub-contractors to coordinate work faces, coordinate between building and services with client, ensure cross-coordination with other supervisors, own issues and drive solutions with Project Manager.
  • Safety: conduct toolbox talks and inductions, maintain plant logs and weekly safety checks, ensure PPE compliance and method statement adherence, comply with Health and Safety Policy including permits and site audits, perform daily safety walk-arounds, and promote safety culture.
  • Quality: plan delivery of materials and plant, mark up drawings with inspection/testing, enforce the inspection/test plan and address snagging, ensure free issue equipment is checked and signed off for payment.
  • Close Out: coordinate with commissioning to ensure testing, demonstrations and handover, prove safety devices, complete life systems and certification, finalize marked-up drawings, manage site demobilisation and ensure project completion documentation is in place.
  • Other Duties: maintain a site diary, assist QS as required, uphold Kirby's professional image, integrate with site team, and implement training plans.
Requirements
  • Recognised Electrical apprenticeship/trade cert with minimum 5 years of site management experience
  • Experience managing electrical design and build projects > €5 million
  • IOSH (desired) and NEBOSH certificates are advantageous
  • Strong computer skills
  • Professional acumen to represent Kirby at senior meetings and workshops
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to lead presentations
  • Planning and organisational skills; capable of managing multiple projects
  • Deep understanding of constructability and strong commercial awareness
  • Ability to build strategic relationships with third-party design groups and to work independently while leading a team
