Overview
Post-Doctoral Researcher SPARK Project School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Fixed-term specified-purpose, full-time, for up to 5 years with funding for 2 years. Reference: 261/2025. The post will be based at one of the TU Dublin campuses (Aungier Street, Bolton Street, Grangegorman, Blanchardstown or Tallaght) with regular attendance at other sites expected.
Hours of Work
37 hours per week.
Salary
The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of the Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale, i.e. €48,896 gross per annum. Remuneration may be adjusted in line with Government pay policy. Incremental credit may apply in line with University policy.

Interview Information
It is anticipated that interviews will take place in the week beginning November 2025. The interview assessment will be 55 minutes in length and will include a 5-minute presentation. The topic will be: Recent research of the candidate related to the topic of the project theme.

Essential
- A PhD in Electrical Power or Energy related area.
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge in power systems operation and control, with experience applying advanced modelling and optimisation techniques (evidence via research portfolio, industry experience, or other contributions).
- A strong publication record with lead-author papers in high-quality journals relevant to the SPARK project.
- Good programming skills and knowledge of various Power Systems software.
Desirable
- Bachelors and Masters with top-class results (1.1 equivalent); detailed transcripts to be provided.
- Knowledge of AI techniques, data handling and visualisation.
- Knowledge of Power Electronics and Control applications.
Other Requirements
- Personal attributes: excellent communication skills; ability to work in a group and independently; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; experience in organising workshops/seminars and events.
Notes
- In the case of a 1st Post-doctoral Fellowship where the applicant may not have graduated yet, the successful applicant must provide a letter from the graduate studies office confirming completion of the programme and awaiting the graduation ceremony date.
