Contract: Fixed term specified purpose, Whole-time, for up to 5 years with funding available for 12 months
Reference: 399/2025
Location: Based at one of TU Dublin campuses (Aungier Street, Bolton Street, Grangegorman, Blanchardstown or Tallaght). Regular attendance at other sites will be required.
Hours of work: 37 hours per week
Salary: €48,896 gross per annum at point (01) of the Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale. Remuneration may be adjusted in line with Government pay policy. Incremental credit may apply per University policy.
Closing date: 5:00pm on 22 September 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
Interviews: Anticipated to take place in the week beginning 7 October 2025. Interview assessment will be 50 minutes in length and will include a 10-minute presentation. Presentation topic: Explainable AI for Human-in-the-Loop Alarm Management in Safety-Critical Control Room Environments.

Essential
- PhD in Human Factors, Control Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated research expertise in human-machine interaction, explainable AI, or safety-critical systems.
- Experience with empirical human performance data collection (e.g., eye tracking, physiological monitoring, workload assessments such as NASA-TLX).
- Knowledge of Bayesian networks.
- Strong programming, data analysis, and modelling skills.
- Evidence of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Previous participation in EU-funded or industry-collaborative projects.
- Some familiarity with ergonomics guidelines, safety standards, or ISO/IEC technical committees for alarm management systems.
