College Group are a privately held company founded in 1989. We are the largest processor and exporter of animal by-products in Ireland. Diversification and investment strategy has resulted in large scale developments in the production of biofuels and the manufacture of organic fertilisers. Continuous development has led to expansion into renewable energy with solar installation and planned renewable gas production.

We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee the transportation of raw materials for our animal rendering plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the logistics of our transportation operations, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory bodies and requirements including HSA, RSA and Department of Agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation Operations:

  • Manage the day-to-day transportation operations, including routing, scheduling, and dispatching of vehicles.
  • Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance and repair of the transportation fleet, ensuring vehicles are in good working condition and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Driver Management: Supervise and manage a team of drivers, ensuring they are trained, qualified, and compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Route Optimisation: Analyse and optimise transportation routes to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including hours of service, weight and size limits, and hazardous materials transportation.

Customer Service:
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving any issues related to transportation.

Budgeting and Cost Control:
  • Manage transportation budgets, controlling costs and identifying opportunities for cost savings.

Safety and Security:
  • Ensure the safety and security of drivers, vehicles, and cargo, implementing measures to prevent accidents and minimise risk.

Requirements

Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation management,
  • Experience in the animal rendering or food processing industry an advantage.

Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, logistics, and fleet management.

Skills:
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Certifications:
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CILT) are an asset.

Variable Schedule:
  • Ability to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate transportation operations.
