IP Telecom, Ireland’s leading innovative communications provider, are seeking a highly experienced Financial Controller to join the Finance Team in our rapidly growing and exciting company. Overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, the role will manage the development of internal control policies and procedures. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will work alongside our Finance Manager and a Financial Administrator.

Responsibilities of the Financial Controller will include:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyse financial data and present insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure all month-end reports are produced in a timely manner.
  • Cross-check the monthly financial statements as prepared by the Finance Manager. Accuracy and attention to detail are paramount.
  • Work with the Finance Manager to ensure the statutory year-end audit is completed, presented to the Board and signed off on within 3 months of the financial year-end.
  • Submit quarterly and annual reports to Comreg and Enterprise Ireland where required.
  • Produce ad-hoc financial reports as periodically required by the Board.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Collaborate with department heads (specifically the CCO) to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on budget variances, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Cross-check the monthly Board Meeting financial pack as prepared by the Finance Manager, including budget versus actuals.
  • Internal Controls
  • Establish and maintain internal control policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure full compliance with ISO certification requirements for the Finance function.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Implement best practices in financial accounting procedures.
  • Manage the integration, from a finance perspective, of any company that IP Telecom acquires.
  • Cash flow Management
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal cash forecasts.
  • Implement strategies to optimize cash resources.
  • Apply for any relevant business support grants from Enterprise Ireland.
  • Oversee debtors’ days and ensure minimum bad debts.
  • Tax Compliance
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Review and ensure tax returns are filed in a timely manner by our auditors and tax advisors.
  • Identify and assess financial risks, proposing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and industry best practices.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Be a mentor to both the Finance Manager and Finance Administrator and ensure they remain motivated and challenged by providing both personal and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications for Financial Controller:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

Software Proficiency

  • Proficient in financial management software and MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.

Personal Attributes

  • Detail-oriented, accurate and organized.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
