About the role: The Credit Control Manager within the Credit Union will report directly to the CFO and Deputy CEO. The suitable candidate will be responsible for the progressive implementation of Heritage Credit Unions credit control policy and procedures to provide an efficient support to our members, while minimising the number of accounts in arrears. The role requires the Credit Control Manager to operate to the highest standards, have a professional manner and work effectively to ensure that members in arrears are supported and financial losses to the credit union are minimised. This is a full-time role where the Credit Control Manager will lead and develop the credit control function and will act as the lead authority on credit control queries that arise among the team and implement effective credit control decisions. The Credit Control Manager will assist in ensuring that credit control risks in the lending portfolio are identified assessed and managed accordingly. Key Responsibilities include: Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements Be familiar with and fully versant in credit control policy and procedures Assisting members in arrears to manage their credit union accounts more effectively and efficiently to the mutual benefit of Heritage Credit Union and the member Help with the preparation of relevant reporting on information for credit control committee or Board meetings. You may also be required to attend Board meetings as required Leading and developing a dedicated credit control team to maximise their potential Liaising with Legal and Debt Collection agents as requiredand understanding of the legal process around arrears Implementing targeted workplans to reduce the arrears levels and maximising loan write-off recoveries Understanding and helping to implement the credit union strategic vision Assessing, developing, implementing and monitoring of credit control processes and procedures in the credit union Friendly and approachable, fostering teamwork and collaboration. Ensuring there is adequate provisioning in place for the scale and nature of the underlying activity Proven experience in a credit control function or a similar role within a financial industry or office administration environment inclusive of a strong understanding of credit risk management principles. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Desired Skills & Competencies Credit Union experience preferable or similar financial institution In-depth knowledge of credit control function, processes and procedures Strong people leadership capabilities Ability to work effectively with third party providers Good IT knowledge and experience with different Software packages would be desirable Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as an individual and within a team optimally. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent administrative, organisational, and support skills with an ability to prioritise issues and escalate accordingly Qualifications A minimum qualification of APA or Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) or actively working towards this qualification within a defined time period in line with the Minimum Competency Code (MCC) set out by the Central Bank.
