
Transportation Engineers

DBFL are currently seeking to recruit Traffic and Transportation Professionals. Our ever-increasing project folio and successful positioning on frameworks with local authorities, the National Transport Authority & Transport Infrastructure Ireland has generated positions in our offices in Dublin, Cork & Waterford. We have a significant and expanding workload in the traffic and transportation planning sector. Current projects include:
• The development and preparation of Transport Strategies/LTPs for large towns and Local Areas
• Leading multidisciplinary design teams and partners in developing transport networks for new towns, residential & commercial developments in accordance with DMURS
• The design & appraisal of Active Travel schemes (walking & cycling) in urban and rural environments including greenways (preliminary and detailed)
• The design of a number of significant bus priority schemes
• The design of various traffic management schemes (including environmental improvement and traffic calming schemes of towns and villages)
• Providing assistance/advice to other departments in DBFL (roads/highway design, street network design in accordance with DMURS, car park design, service access strategies)
• Providing transport related advice and services to support high profile clients in the development of large residential, commercial and educational developments including the development of major new towns and Strategic Development Zones
DBFL has excellent relationships with the many clients that we work with on a regular basis. We work on the principle that we are the first company that they think of when they require transportation consultancy services. In order to facilitate the continued expansion of this section, DBFL urgently requires Transportation Engineers & Planners with a minimum of 3 years experience.
Key roles and responsibilities:
Reporting to an Associate Director, successful candidates pending experience will display the following key traits and skills:-
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong numerical skills and problem-solving abilities
• At least 3 years transport modelling experience
• A relevant engineering/planning degree and either hold or are working towards Chartered status
• Ideally hold a relevant postgraduate or Masters qualification
• Experience with the NTA RMS (Desired) or variable demand modelling
• Experience using any one or more of Cube, SATURN, Aimsun, Paramics, Vissum, Vissim, EMME ( 2 years exp with Saturn, Paramics, and 1 year exp CUBE, desired)
• Excellent analytical skills to inform decision making, including spreadsheet, data analysis (good Data analysis)
• Use and application of GIS Techniques to transport modelling outputs and analysis
• Experience working with complex datasets
• Qualitative & quantitative research skills
Desired qualifications and requirements:
• Display a good understanding of design principles, national / local authority standards, technical guidance documents such as DMURS, DMRB, TII SRW etc
• Have multi-disciplinary design co-ordination experience and be able to present design solutions effectively & holistically within an overall project team
• Ability to mentor junior staff in developing their own technical expertise.
• Good planning and organisational skills.
• Familiar with the preparation of proposals and tender submissions
• A current driver's licence is desirable
