Job Description: Nurse – Step Down Unit

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Nurse to join our clients Step Down Unit in Tipperary. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality care to patients transitioning from acute hospital settings to a less intensive care environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in patient recovery, promoting independence and improving overall patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Patient Care: Deliver comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans.

- Monitoring: Regularly monitor patients' vital signs, progress, and overall condition, promptly reporting any changes to the healthcare team.

- Medication Administration: Administer medications accurately and safely in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, physiotherapists, and social workers, to ensure holistic patient care.

- Education and Support: Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families, helping them understand their care plans and recovery process.

- Discharge Planning: Assist in preparing patients for discharge by coordinating with community services and ensuring follow-up care is in place.

- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to legal and organizational standards.

- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all practices comply with infection prevention and control measures, health and safety regulations, and hospital policies.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Education:

- Registered General Nurse (RGN) qualification.

- Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

- Experience:

- Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in a hospital or clinical setting.

- Previous experience in a Step Down Unit, rehabilitation, or medical-surgical unit is highly desirable.

- Skills:

- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

- Proficiency in electronic health record systems is an advantage.
