BMW Ireland, Dublin – Communications and Events Intern - 13 Month Student Placement (July 2026)
We are looking for a detail oriented, energetic and eager individual to join our Communications, Strategy and Events team responsible for planning and executing communications and event activities that contribute positively to the perception of The BMW Group brands in Ireland (BMW and MINI).
This role requires an organised, energetic and detail-oriented person who can manage multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment. This individual is a team-player with an entrepreneurial spirit with initiative, willingness to learn and ability to manage multiple tasks while adapting to shifting priorities. This role also offers exciting opportunities to visit retailer centres, support at national events and gain a broad understanding and experience of how the BMW Group operates.
What awaits you?
Working closely with the Head of Strategy, Communications, Events and Employee Engagement Manager you will help ensure the current and future BMW and MINI models and sponsorship properties are launched and optimised for the Irish market to deliver against sales and company objectives. The chosen individual will assist with tasks including, but not limited to writing and editing, event coordination, report writing, preparing, photo, video and event briefing, media relations, coordination of social media content, assisting the department with and other communications and administrative support tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Communications and Strategy
- Support internal/external strategy implementation and track activities; coordinate retailer and internal communications on strategy and sustainability.
- Manage retailer marketing materials and updates to the dealer site; work with ambassadors to identify trends and talent.
- Collate press coverage and analyse insights to inform communications; manage Pree Fleet car usage and media output; prepare quarterly BMW Group Ireland economic landscape report.
- Gather data to identify external sustainability opportunities; organise media events; handle PO processing and monthly reporting.
- Attend and present at management/team meetings; distribute the Internal Communications weekly newsletter and prepare intranet articles with the BMW Financial Service Intern.
- Events & Partnerships
- Assist Events and Sponsorship Manager with product, sporting, cultural, and internal events; plan and coordinate with agencies, RSVPs, and assets; support retailer and customer event activities.
- Employee Engagement
- Support the Employee Engagement Manager in activities and initiatives for the 40+ employees at BMW Group Ireland.
- Supporting MINI
- Assist with MINI IE product launch planning and activities; support the MINI intern in planning marketing activities.
What should you bring along?
- Studying towards a bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Studies, Economics or a related field and on track to achieve at least a 2:2.
- A good understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft programmes; including PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel.
- Self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills. This will be important as you will be working with a variety of internal and external colleagues including retailer partners, colleagues in the UK, and suppliers.
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy, coupled with the ability to think analytically and laterally.
- Ability to work flexibly with outstanding time management and organisation whilst working across a number of varied tasks.
- Previous experience in a retail setting is advantageous but not essential.
- An interest and enthusiasm for cars and working in the automotive industry.
