Medforce is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Practitioner to join our Children in Care team based in Dundalk, Co. Louth. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children in care and their families. The Family Support Practitioner will be responsible for delivering high-quality, strengths-based support to children and families, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the welfare and safety of children in care. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct family support services to children in care and their families. Develop and implement care plans that address the needs of children in care, with a focus on building and maintaining positive family relationships. Collaborate with social workers, family support workers, and other professionals to create comprehensive support plans for children and families. Support children in care in overcoming emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. Offer practical advice and assistance to families to strengthen their capacity to care for their children. Monitor and review the progress of families, ensuring that interventions are effective and tailored to individual needs. Advocate for children and families and ensure that their voices are heard in the care planning process. Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures. Qualifications & Skills: A relevant qualification in social care, social work, psychology, or a related field. Experience working with children in care or vulnerable children and families is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices. Ability to develop strong working relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. A commitment to upholding Tuslas values and working within the framework of child welfare and protection legislation. Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Level 6 (or higher) major academic award in the areas of health promotion, social care, childcare, education, family support, education etc. or An equivalent nationally recognised qualification in the areas of health promotion, social care, childcare, education, family support, education etc. and The requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of office. Desirable: Previous experience in a family support role or with children in care. Knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks, including Children First Guidelines.
