Trainee Designer – Homeware

As Trainee Designer, you will work closely alongside Primark’s Buying and Merchandising teams to translate trend into product.

Working alongside a Designer, you will collaborate with fellow product designers across the business you will create strong, fashion forward, commercial and global ranges that identify with the Primark brand.

As Trainee Designer, you will demonstrate passion, curiosity and interest in fashion. You will predict key trends using the knowledge of top sellers, extensive research and the knowledge of forecasting tools.

You will be responsible for staying ahead of trends, continually research new ideas.

- Fashion graphic design training preferred
- Ability to both hand draw and work directly onto the mac

What You’ll Do:

In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:

Trend & Research

- Complete daily trend research across multi platforms, delivering trend information to the womenswear teams
- Adapt latest trends into the Primark handwriting, to ensure a commercial direction for the range
- Ensure research also considers new techniques/fabrics and seasonal colour direction
- Present ideas with confidence to the design/buying teams.

Range Design

- Work alongside Design team to create typographically strong original graphics and prints.
- Have an awareness and interest in garment shape design and how this can be developed for Primark
- Develop an understanding of the womenswear products and show willingness to work within the brand guidelines of the partners we work with

Approvals

- Follow design briefs to ensure focus is maintained on the provided direction in the allocated time
- Trackand manage design/trend amends, ensuring they are communicated to allparties in a timely manner
- Prepare design/trend files for presentations/meetings/suppliers.
- Responsible for design team colour/trend/product admin.
