As the IAM Operations Manager, you will lead and mentor a team responsible for day-to-day identity and access management (IAM) operations, including Level 2 (L2) support, user lifecycle management, and other operational IAM processes across the organization. This role ensures that identity services run efficiently, securely, and in alignment with Datavant’s security and compliance standards.

You’ll work closely with security engineering, IT, compliance, and business teams to streamline IAM processes, enhance automation, and drive operational excellence in support of our zero-trust and least-privilege principles.

Responsibilities

- Lead IAM Operations: Manage the daily activities of the IAM operations team, ensuring timely resolution of L2 support tickets, onboarding/offboarding tasks, and routine access management functions.
- Team Management: Supervise, coach, and develop a high-performing operations team focused on efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Process Optimization: Develop and refine IAM operational procedures, including access provisioning, deprovisioning, and periodic access reviews.
- Collaboration: Partner with IAM engineering, Security, IT, and compliance teams to align operational activities with broader security initiatives.
- Metrics & Reporting: Define and track KPIs for operational performance, ticket resolution, and access governance health.
- Tool & Automation Support: Support automation initiatives to reduce manual workload and improve consistency across IAM workflows.
- Audit & Compliance: Ensure IAM operations align with regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, FedRAMP) and support audit activities as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify gaps, propose improvements, and implement best practices for IAM service delivery.

What you will bring to the table

- 6+ years of experience in IAM or IT operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
- Strong understanding of IAM principles (authentication, authorization, provisioning, governance, role-based access control).
- Hands-on experience with IAM tools (e.g., Okta, Azure AD, SailPoint, or similar).
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a distributed operations team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and incident management skills with a focus on root cause analysis and process improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP) and audit readiness activities.
- A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to translate operational pain points into scalable solutions.
