Fair City

Fair City is a prime‑time serial drama consisting of 200 episodes per year, broadcast on RTÉ One, and is a cornerstone of RTÉ One's schedule and the primary series in the channel’s drama output.

Story Room Assistant Role

The Story Room Assistant is a key administrative role within the Fair City story production office, providing support to the story writing personnel and liaising between the Story Department, Production and Script Department. Reporting to the Series Producer, the Story Room Assistant works in close collaboration with the Series Consultant and is responsible for ensuring that the production resource parameters of the show are carried through at every level, considering practical issues such as show continuity, televisual language, production and budgetary considerations.

Responsibilities

- Provide daily administrative support to the story writing team

- Facilitate the preparation of step‑by‑step episode outline documents

- Compile episode outline documents

- Gather production scheduling information for the Assistant Producer

- Assist with administrative support in character plotting as detailed by the Story Editor

- Update and maintain the story bible and archive documents

- Perform additional administrative and support duties as required by the Executive Producer and Series Producer

Qualifications

- Knowledge of all aspects of television production and the production requirements of drama

- Keen interest in continuous drama and excellent organisational skills with a meticulous approach to work

- Experience of working in a high‑pressure, ever‑changing environment with a large production team

- Excellent communication skills; able to prioritise work and work under own initiative

Contract Details

This appointment will be made on a fixed‑purpose, full‑time contract for a duration of two years. The salary range is €33,392 – €45,017 gross per annum. Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 21st November 2025.
