SETU are currently seeking a Senior Research fellow - Food Data Analyst to support research projects within the Faculty of Science. The successful candidate will be part of South East Technological University Eye-Q development team currently funded by Enterprise Ireland via a Commercialisation Fund programme. This purpose driven team is tasked with the development of Eye-Q, a novel state of the art system to reduce food waste. Eye-Q is a cutting-edge food supply chain digital management solution designed to minimise food loss and waste. It is unconventional and disruptive in its approach through fusing both optical and chemometric explicit and tacit supply chain biologic credentials to improve agility and responsiveness of our global food supply chain. This system will progress state-of-the-art by developing a digital platform to layer and fuse captured images and data analytics, to predict an accurate real-time remaining shelf-life. This disruptive system will, for the first time, across all stakeholders, employ a holistic approach towards waste reduction and assist our global food systems better align with our Sustainable Development Goals. Its non-contact, non- destructive, vision based approach can reduce the monetary losses and logistical uncertainty while presenting new product repurposing alternatives for users. Subject to meeting time / technical deliverables there is a possibility to extend contract by up to 24 months.
