Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Biology and Environmental Science. The Multi-disciplinary Ocean Sensing for Adaptive International Conservation (MOSAIC) project is a 54-month, cross-border initiative that will establish the first large-scale, integrated marine observation network across Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. Its mission is to address the urgent biodiversity and climate challenges facing our shared seas by delivering the data, strategies, and tools needed for evidence-based conservation and sustainable marine management. MOSAIC responds to the growing pressures of climate change, offshore renewable energy, fisheries, and human activity on marine ecosystems. Current efforts are fragmented, often focused on single species or small regions. By contrast, MOSAIC will link oceanography with biodiversity using a multi-sensor network that combines acoustic receivers, data buoys, underwater video (BRUVs), eDNA, and satellite tracking. This system will monitor key threatened and declining species-sharks, skates, rays, seals, cetaceans, and turtles-alongside their habitats. Fixed Salary: €46,305 per annum.
