Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Site Lead to manage our laboratory team and operations. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, ensure quality standards, and foster a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities Delivery Oversee day-to-day management of the laboratory team and operations.
Enhance operational systems, processes, and procedures to achieve best-in-class practices.
Improve efficiency and effectiveness across departments through coordination and communication.
Maximize equipment utilization for increased sample throughput.
Manage internal and external service schedules.
Organize laboratory resources and prioritize tasks.
Plan and schedule long-term, monthly, and weekly work.
Ensure staff operate within a safe system of work at all times.
Ensure staff are trained and competent, with all training fully documented.
Conduct staff appraisals and provide regular performance feedback.
Play a key role in scheduling for improved excellence and succession planning.
Meet client expectations and achieve required on-time delivery (OTD).
Provide regular updates to the Regional General Manager on service status.
Stay informed about the site’s sales and work-in-progress (WIP) levels.
Quality Maintain laboratory accreditations and client approvals.
Review and meet QC performance schedules and targeted KPIs.
Investigate out-of-specification QC or client results.
Attend Group meetings (Quality/Health & Safety/Technical Development).
Act as a signatory for the business.
Manage external service providers.
Deputise for the Regional General Manager when necessary.
People Management Manage team absences and conduct return-to-work interviews.
Address capability, disciplinary, or grievance issues, communicating with Line Managers and HR.
Conduct first-stage disciplinary procedures for absence and lateness.
Carry out appraisals and development processes, setting objectives.
Set training and development plans to meet staff retention targets.
Conduct selection interviews for new staff.
Safety Oversee risk and COSHH assessments.
Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
Promote a safe working environment for all staff.
Qualifications Proven experience in a similar role within a laboratory setting.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
