ESSENTIAL SKILLS Minimum Level 6 Qualification in Human Resources, or a related field (CIPD qualification preferred). Minimum of 2 years’ HR experience in a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment law, and best practice. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, showing initiative and problem-solving skills. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office applications. JOB OVERVIEW The Human Resources Generalist will deliver a comprehensive and efficient HR service to the hospital. This is a broad, people-focused role providing day-to-day HR support, while also contributing to strategic development initiatives to meet the hospital’s evolving needs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Recruitment & Selection Manage the end-to-end recruitment cycle to attract and retain high-quality staff. Partner with line managers to ensure effective workforce planning and timely hiring. Lead engaging onboarding processes that support new employees in integrating successfully into the hospital community. HR Support & Advice Act as the first point of contact for HR queries, providing clear, timely, and supportive guidance. Manage the HR email inbox and respond efficiently. Coordinate and track staff training, ensuring compliance with hospital and statutory requirements. Promote and support health, safety, and well-being initiatives. Support line managers with performance management, staff appraisals, and constructive feedback. Contribute to HR projects and represent HR on working groups and committees. HR Compliance and Operations Ensure HR policies and practices align with legislation and industry standards. Maintain accurate, up-to-date personnel records and oversee HR systems. Liaise with Payroll to ensure accurate and timely salary processing for starters, leavers, and changes. Administer staff surveys and support action planning. Monitor and manage staffing levels to ensure compliance with agreed complements. Coordinate with Occupational Health on pre-employment medicals and staff health matters. Administer statutory leave processes (maternity, parental, force majeure, etc.). Manage updates to the HR and Time & Attendance systems in line with policies. Issue staff ID/swipe cards and provide system support to line managers and staff. Ensure system queries are resolved quickly and accurately. Adaptable and efficient in a fast-paced healthcare environment. HEALTH & SAFETY Candidates must be medically fit to carry out the role, subject to a pre-employment medical examination. Staff are expected to actively support and participate in hospital initiatives promoting staff and patient well-being. ANNUAL LEAVE Annual leave entitlements are granted in accordance with the Organisation of Working Time Act (1997) and detailed in each staff member’s contract of employment. SELECTION CRITERIA Applicants will be assessed against the following criteria: Relevant qualifications and HR experience in healthcare. Evidence of skills, knowledge, and competencies as outlined.
