About the role: Our IT team is seeking a Head of Business Applications to support our growing IT landscape, with a particular focus on Microsoft Azure. The Head of Business Applications leads the strategic direction, development, and support of enterprise applications across the organisation. This role is pivotal in driving digital transformation, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring that business systems align with organisational goals. The postholder will manage a multidisciplinary team, oversee vendor relationships, and ensure robust governance across the application landscape. Key Responsibilities: Overseeing the development and enhancement of systems and integrating new systems with existing system. Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of business applications by providing support and troubleshooting and coordinating with the wider IT teams to resolve any issues as they arise. Effective leadership of a diverse team of skilled IT professionals across multiple locations. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Act as liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and strategic alignment. Define and document best practices and support procedures. Provide expertise to Projects and Business Service Requests as required to ensure tasks and milestones are achieved in a timely manner. Coach and mentor individual team members on an ongoing basis, review performance, setting out goals and objectives annually. Provide advice and guidance where appropriate in relation to incidents, service requests and/or projects to ensure the successful completion of said items. Monitor application performance and implement improvements for scalability and reliability. Manage 3rd party vendors ensuring their delivery is on-time and meets Flogas standards. Work closely with the Head of architecture & development team to set the technical direction of application/ software builds and ensure the tech stack is modern and scalable. Ensure agile best practices, automation and efficient delivery of projects with a clearly defined process (Use of devops for traceability, Peer reviews, unit tests for code, pipelines for all deployments, etc). Work closely with the business stakeholders to ensure they have a clear view on IT delivery. Candidate Profile: Technical Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud frameworks. Development Stack: C#, .NET, React, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, JSON/XML APIs. Good knowledge of quality standards and best practice. Low-Code Platforms: Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate). Experience: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent experience required. 5+ years' experience in a leadership role focused on business solutions and applications with extensive involvement in the full life cycle of solution delivery from inception, through design and deployment. Extensive experience of working with partners and Systems Integrators to deliver complex IT/Digital enterprise platforms and solutions, and ERP platforms. Experience in Energy markets and systems (Desirable). Demonstrates clear and effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of staff, both business and technical. Passionate about emerging technologies such as AI that can help add value to the business and increase efficiencies. Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail, with demonstrable experience of a project-management approach in delivering longer term goals. Strong personal commitment to succeed. Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
