Title: Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist Hours: Part Time (17.5 hours per week) Contract Type: Permanent Grade: 367Y, Psychologist, Senior Clinical Salary: €48,764 - €57,319 Job Closing Date: Tuesday 2nd December 2025 at 17:00 Interview Date: Tuesday 9th December 2025 Summary of the role: LauraLynn, Irelands Childrens Hospice is seeking to appoint an experienced and compassionate Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our expanding team. This post carries a special designation attached to our Mallow Community Team while maintaining a national remit within the LauraLynn model of care. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality psychological support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families, with a particular focus on prioritising the needs of families across the Munster region. Routine attendance and participation in the multidisciplinary team meetings at the Mallow Community Team Base will be a core aspect of the role, contributing to collaborative, holistic family care. LauraLynn is committed to ensuring that the logistics of this post are both sustainable and supportive. The structure of the role will balance service needs with flexibility for the post-holder, incorporating hybrid working arrangements, telehealth delivery, and flexible scheduling where possible. This approach reflects our dedication to promoting staff wellbeing, efficiency, and service accessibility. Professional governance for the post will be provided through line management by the Family Support Team Manager, alongside clinical supervision with the Principal Clinical Psychologist, ensuring both operational and clinical support are embedded in practice. Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification in clinical/counselling accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health. Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for. Applicants must have at least five years satisfactory post-graduate experience in the area of clinical/counselling psychology, no more than three years of which was spent in gaining the postgraduate professional qualification and no less than two years full-time spent in post qualification experience as a clinical/counselling psychologist. Years in excess of the permitted three years for completion of the post-graduate training or time not worked will not be taken into consideration when assessing the five years' experience requirement. Applicants with a clinical or counselling psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings, for the area / areas for which they wish to apply - Disability (Child and Adult), Child Psychology, Adult Psychology - either at least 60days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as partof the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post-qualification supervised work experienceas a psychologist. See Note below also. Note. Combinations of supervised clinical placement experience as part of the qualification and post qualification supervised work experience within a single care group area to give a total of 60 days are not acceptable. Post-qualification experience of working as a clinical/counselling psychologist providing assessment and psychotherapeutic intervention to children, young people and adults with complex psychological presentations is essential. Must be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or eligible to become a member.
