Position: Financial Controller Location: County Wexford We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our leadership team. Working closely with the Group Finance Director, this position plays a critical role in shaping the financial strategy and supporting the growth of the organization. The finance function provides a wide array of services to numerous subsidiaries and business units across Ireland, the UK, and Europe, covering all facets of the business. The Financial Controller will be instrumental in ensuring robust financial management, delivering strategic objectives, and supporting the groups expansion initiatives. Role Overview Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the Financial Controller will be a key member of the senior management team, contributing to the direction and implementation of finance strategies. The role encompasses oversight of financial accounting, management reporting, forecasting, and driving operational efficiency across the finance function. Additionally, the Financial Controller will manage commercial development initiatives, project activities, and the development of financing structures to support the groups growth. Core Responsibilities 1. Leadership & Financial Oversight: Serve as a technical expert on accounting matters, providing guidance on complex financial issues. Oversee the preparation and review of Financial Statements and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. Manage the budgetary process for relevant subsidiaries, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Deliver financial performance updates, including board reports and commentary. 2. Planning & Forecasting: Develop and manage detailed financial forecasts and cash flow analyses. Provide insights and recommendations on system enhancements, including leveraging AI and automation to optimize processes. 3. Taxation & Compliance: Oversee tax compliance and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements in collaboration with group tax advisors. Drive improvements in tax management processes through automation and robust controls. 4. Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline financial operations, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency. Identify and secure grant opportunities to support subsidiary operations. Champion process improvement projects, utilizing tools and systems to modernize the finance function. 5. Strategic Projects: Support business development initiatives by assessing financial viability and strategic fit. Participate in treasury management, including bank relations, cash forecasting, and disbursements. 6. Team Development: Lead recruitment, onboarding, and development of finance team members, ensuring a high-performing team. Manage team performance through mentorship and regular reviews. 7. Board Engagement: Present financial insights, forecasts, and project updates to the group and subsidiary boards. Candidate Profile Qualifications & Experience: Chartered Accountant (ACA/ACCA) with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in a senior finance role within a complex organization. Expertise in technical accounting with a strong record of making high-level financial decisions. Proven experience managing commercial projects and delivering strategic financial initiatives. Familiarity with project management and continuous improvement methodologies. Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical abilities with a focus on detail and accuracy. Proven success in using technology and automation to enhance financial processes. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to diverse audiences. Demonstrated leadership skills, including team management and stakeholder engagement. Strong commercial awareness and ability to navigate a dynamic business environment. Personal Attributes: Results-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently. Exceptional problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with a focus on building positive relationships.
