An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and dynamic Day Service Operations Manager to lead the ongoing management, development and transformation of day services for individuals with intellectual disabilities and older adults. This role involves overseeing multiple units, ensuring compliance with regulations, and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to drive person-centred, high-quality service provision in Wexford.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operational Management:

Provide strategic direction and leadership in daily operations.
Support and supervise day service managers across multiple locations.
Lead the planning, development, and implementation of person-centred services.
Ensure the delivery of services in line with national frameworks and standards (e.g. New Directions, Person Centred Planning).
Champion organisational values and a human rights-based approach.
Oversee new service development and project management initiatives.
Manage referrals, admissions, and transitions, including school leaver placements.

Quality, Compliance & Governance

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and audit processes.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements.
Lead monitoring and reporting on KPIs, service outcomes, and audits.
Act as a Designated Officer for safeguarding.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

Engage with families, professionals, and external agencies including HSE.
Represent the service on external committees and professional networks.
Liaise with finance, HR, and clinical teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

Transport & Logistics

Oversee the operational management of all day service transport routes.
Supervise driver and escort scheduling, and coordinate logistics for outings and appointments.

Staff Management & Development

Lead, support, and develop a high-performing team.
Ensure effective supervision, performance management, and training.
Coordinate workforce planning and maintain high standards in rostering and care delivery.

Person Specification

Qualifications

A recognised degree in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, Nursing (Intellectual Disability or Psychiatric), or equivalent (validated by QQI).
Management qualification is highly desirable.

Experience

35 years management experience in disability services across multiple units.
Deep knowledge of national standards such as New Directions and Person Centred Planning frameworks.
Proven track record of managing audits, quality reporting, and compliance.
Strong experience in stakeholder collaboration, particularly with HSE and external bodies.
Excellent IT, communication, and organisational skills.

Desirable

Full driving licence.

In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in the sector.
Commitment to rights-based, person-centred care.
Excellent report writing and analytical abilities.

Additional Information

Flexibility to adapt to evolving service needs is essential.
Garda vetting and references will be required prior to appointment.
The role requires good health and the capacity to deliver regular and efficient service.
