Job Description Summary The Senior R&D Manager is responsible for leading the Released Product Management R&D organisation, which supports all MMS Infusion Products that are released to the market. Become a maker of possible with us Our vision for Medication Management Solutions at BD With our technical capabilities, the Medication Management Solutions (MMS) team are able to manage multiple systems and our operational capabilities enable us to have medications available when and where needed, reducing inefficiency and waste for nursing and pharmacy teams. About the role We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior R&D Manager to lead our R&D organization responsible for Released Product Management (RPM), supporting all MMS OUS Infusion Products currently in the market. This exciting leadership role is focused on driving value creating product enhancements, line extensions, and sustaining engineering efforts. The Senior R&D Manager will oversee critical technical input to product upgrades and provide ongoing R&D leadership, ensuring that all efforts align with market needs, regulatory standards, and the highest quality standards. As the Senior R&D Manager, you will lead a talented team of engineers, collaborate cross-functionally, and implement strategic plans that drive continuous improvement in product performance and reliability. Your expertise will ensure that our products remain competitive and compliant and that all regulatory requirements are met efficiently. Main responsibilities will include: Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Work with functional leaders in RCI to recruit, train, and develop team members to ensure high performance. Develop and implement strategies for RPM engineering activities, aligning with overall business goals and regulatory requirements. Suppurt marketing in development of the product roadmaps. Work with SMEs and to define the technology roadmaps for each product line and core technology. Work closely with quality, manufacturing, regulatory, and other departments to align on strategic priorities, drive portfolio delivery, deliver continuous improvements and resolve product issues. Lead efforts to develop and implement changes to existing products, including design verification, validation, and usability testing. Conduct risk assessments and manage risk mitigation activities for product changes. Collaborate with RA function to ensure designs meet compliance with regulatory standards and assist in obtaining necessary approvals. Respond to regulatory inquiries and audits. Maintain and improve quality systems to ensure all sustaining activities are properly documented and compliant with internal and external standards. Lead and mentor the RPM R&D organization. Develop and implement strategies for RPM R&D activities. Oversee multiple projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget and quality standards. Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, regulatory, and other departments to drive continuous improvements. Lead efforts to develop and implement changes to existing products, including design verification and validation. Conduct risk assessments and manage risk mitigation activities. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and assist in obtaining necessary approvals. Maintain and improve quality systems, ensuring proper documentation. Identify and implement design changes to enhance product performance and reliability. Provide technical expertise to resolve product issues and support manufacturing processes. About you Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field. Extensive experience in R&D within the medical device industry. Proven ability to work across multiple projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery. In-depth understanding of relevant standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 13485, ISO 14971, ISO 60601) Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
