POSITION SUMMARY This role reports to the Technical, Utilities & Sustainability Lead and will assist with promoting sustainability and energy initiatives. This includes the identification and overseeing of short and long-term projects and strategies that increase the sites energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and minimize unnecessary energy consumption. One key objective is to ensure the highest level of availability of systems, ensure compliance with Zoetis and regulatory standards in the most energy efficient manner. The site Energy and Sustainability Engineer will create a baseline site energy profile that identifies departments, areas, or systems where energy is wasted, or energy efficiency is not at its optimum as per design. They will create and build a portfolio of projects that detail energy optimisation and sustainability projects through the analysing of utility, equipment usage and providing site annual and 5-year target plan to achieve. Primary accountabilities are: Participate in the design reviews of new equipment and facilities to ensure their energy efficiency meets the site's requirements. Conduct energy audits and assessments to identify opportunities for energy conservation and efficiency improvements. Develop and implement energy management strategies and systems to monitor and reduce energy consumption. Lead the implementation of ISO50001 onsite. Develop energy maps and monitor site usage, issue routine reports to site. Identify energy savings opportunities and make recommendations to achieve a more energy efficient operation. Oversee external support companies for on-site work scopes and ensuring cost adherence. The role will report to the site Technical, Utilities & Sustainability Lead and will have a strong relationship with the site Maintenance, Capital Projects, Automation, Operations, Quality and EHS functions. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Key objectives of this position include: Compliance Ensure Zoetis, and regulatory agency policies and standards are fully complied with including Quality, EHS, FDA, HPRA, EPA. Maximise efficiency of energy consumption, identify improvement projects with acceptable payback period. Conduct energy audits to evaluate energy use, costs, or conservation measures. Utilise the site Change Control process for all site systems ensuring that all changes are captured and assessed/tested/closed out in a timely manner. Analyse energy data and prepare technical reports to support decision-making and compliance with regulations. Conduct lifecycle assessments, carbon footprint analysis, and greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting. Ensure site compliance with the reporting and implementation of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). Communication and Collaboration Prepare clear and compelling reports, presentations and proposals for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies. Engage with external partners, vendors, and consultants to support project goals. Provide training and guidance to staff on energy conservation and sustainability practices. Foster a culture of sustainability and continuous improvement within the organisation. Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of energy systems, energy efficiency, sustainability design principles and EU ETS. Proficiency in data analysis, energy auditing, lifecycle assessment and ISO50001. Excellent problem-solving skills with a systems-thinking approach. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Directly reports to the Technical, Utilities & Sustainability Lead. Strong working relationship with other functional areas such as Maintenance, Facilities, Capital Projects, Automation, Operations, Quality and EHS. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in engineering / professional certification such as Certified Energy Manager or significant time spent in energy management and currently pursuing further Education studies. 3 years plus experience in GMP manufacturing environment. Knowledge of carbon accounting and reporting tools. Experience in project management and leading sustainability initiatives. Experience of the Operation and Maintenance of Utility systems within a regulated environment. TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Excellent oral and written communication skills report writing skills. Analytical approach demonstrated problem solving skills, comfortable with use of spreadsheets. Ability to collaborate with and influence colleagues.
