My client, a long established and multinational utility contractor in maintenance and construction of Electrical and Telecommunications infrastructure, is currently looking to hire a Tendering Electrical Engineer to join their team. Hybrid role, flexibility on location in Ireland, they’ve multiple offices across the country.

The electrical engineer you’ll work on major Power, Renewable & Substation project tenders. You will be responsible for undertaking and managing all electrical engineering requirements and deliverables on substation and renewable project tenders. You will ensure that all electrical engineering elements of tender submissions meet the required client/Eirgrid/ESB tender specifications.

The Job

Function as a Tendering Electrical Engineer within Tendering Team. Detailed review and familiarisation of all project employers requirements, specifications, and preliminary drawings & calculations. Ownership of electrical engineering tender requirements as part of the tender submission. Risk identification & mitigation, understand the commercial fundamentals of a project and a tender submission. Work with the tendering team, operations, engineering and commercial teams to prepare tender submissions.

Coordinate electrical, civil, cable and OHL engineering interfaces during the tender process. Working with equipment vendors, design consultants and other third parties as part of the tender process. Review offers from equipment suppliers & design consultants to ensure they are technically compliant/commercially competitive.

Provide input into the tender program and engineering budget from an engineering and electrical design point of view. Ensure compliance with relevant standards/ regulations. Business Development & client liaison where required. Contribute as part of a multidisciplinary design team taking responsibility for tender electrical engineering outputs. Support the operations and project team in terms of handover of a successful tender. Keep up to date on innovative technologies & build techniques to drive improvements in cost & timescales.

Experience Needed:

Degree in Electrical Engineering. 3+ years industry experience in substations, high & medium voltage, and renewables projects

Experience of the tendering process and producing technical tender submissions. Knowledge of the substation, utilities, and renewables sector. Experience with AutoCAD and ePlan. Knowledge of ESB/Eirgrid specifications & design requirements an advantage.

Good comprehension of the design / construction interfacing requirements. Good client facing skills. Good communication and organisational skills.

Travel onsite may occasionally be required, but the role is an office-based position, offices based Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Kerry, Kilkenny, Waterford and other locations.
